Bank of America Mobile App in Spanish

Bank of America's Android app has been stuck on the same look since 2014 when version 5.0 added a hint of Material Design and saved the interface from its Froyo days. With this new version 7.0, the app gets a major facelift with plenty of new features.

The new redesign and side-menu are getting mixed reviews on the Play Store: some users are raving about how easy it is to use and others are complaining about how unintuitive it's become and how some areas require a lot more steps to get to. I can't verify that by myself since I'm not a BofA customer, so I'll let you praise it or vent about it in the comments.

As for the features introduced, there's now Spanish language support throughout the app, as well as access to check FICO Scores for credit card customers, and the ability to redeem credit card rewards inside the app. Here's the changelog followed by screenshots of the app and the link to grab it from the Play Store.

WHAT'S NEW

With our new redesigned app, it's easier to find and use our most popular features. Plus, we've added some other requested enhancements:

• Simplified design for easier use and navigation

• Credit card rewards redemption options

• FICO® Score at no cost for consumer credit card customers

• Spanish language option

Let us know how we're doing by rating the app in the Play Store.

CHARLOTTE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bank of America today announced a comprehensive redesign of its award-winning mobile app that includes easier navigation and the ability to set the language to Spanish, in addition to other features that make it easier for customers to control their finances from the palm of their hand.

"Our clients increasingly rely on their mobile devices to navigate daily life and manage their finances, and now we are excited to give our Spanish-speaking clients enhanced access to our mobile capabilities," said Michelle Moore, head of Digital Banking. "We want to be where our customers are, which is why we are proud to deliver these new features that provide increased convenience to our 20 million active mobile users."

The newest mobile enhancements include:

  • Navigation RedesignThe latest redesign leverages the best of Android and iPhone app design, creating a more intuitive, seamless user experience. Both apps were customized for each platform and include navigation menus for quicker access to the most popular features.
  • Spanish-language FunctionalityCommitted to serving the Spanish-speaking community, Bank of America now provides its customers the ability to select Spanish or English language to navigate the features of mobile banking within the app settings. If a customer's online banking profile or device language setting is already set to Spanish, the app will prompt the user to confirm the default language they would like to use upon log in.
  • Credit Card Rewards RedemptionOne of the most requested functionalities being introduced is the ability to redeem rewards for BankAmericard Cash Rewards™ and BankAmericard Travel Rewards® credit cards. Customers can easily view their available rewards or travel purchase points and choose to redeem their desired amount through the app, making it simple to enjoy the rewards they have earned.
  • FICO® Score AccessExpanding on the online banking resource announced earlier this year, Bank of America is now offering consumer credit card mobile users the ability to view their FICO® Score directly through their mobile banking app. Customers will be able to access information about key factors influencing their score and see how their score compares to national averages. The score will be updated based on the customer's credit report data from TransUnion®. Customers also have access to Bank of America's Better Money Habits®, which provides free educational tools about how to maintain healthy credit as well as additional educational resources.

With more than 20 million active mobile users and growing, Bank of America's mobile banking platform is an evolving source of increased customer engagement and satisfaction. During the second quarter of 2016, mobile banking customers logged into their accounts more than 900 million times, or approximately 47 times per user. During that same period, customers made more than 25 million mobile bill payments and nearly 80 million transfers, a growth of 30 percent and 46 percent, respectively, over 2015. Customers also used their mobile devices to deposit more than 280,000 checks daily and to schedule 22,000 appointments per week with a personal banker or financial center specialist, and were able to use their smartphone at more than 2,800 cardless ATMs to withdraw cash. More customers are opening new accounts through mobile, with sales increasing by 48 percent over the past year.
